Odiham Deer Park Planning Application

28th September 2016

Plans for a part of Odiham’s Deer Park have been formally submitted to Hart District Council. A detailed application to create a landscape enhancement and historic restorations together with the change the use of some of the agricultural land to Public Open Space, on land off Dunleys Hill and Deer Park View has been submitted to Hart District Council after periods of public consultation in 2015.

From the public feedback at last year’s consultations, it was clear that the long term safeguards into the future as well as the landscape improvements secured against the small amount of development, need to be combined and included within one overall scheme such that the land as a whole can be conditioned and secured legally under covenants and under management regimes into the future. This proposal to create long term security is before the Council now.

The application consists of:

  • Change of use of some of the agricultural land to managed public and private open space (with dedication of 16 acres to Odiham Parish Council).
  • Remainder of land to be kept for a deer herd in new landscaped grounds with woods and hedgerows.
  • Creation of new vehicular and footway/cycleway access to Dunley’s Hill
  • Access from the public car park off Deer Park View to a new extended car park and erection of a community building and community hub centred on the open space
  • Erection of eight dwellings with residential curtilages
  • Formation of two new paths and diversion of two others, retention of all existing paths
  • Cycle ways, Park fencing and a deer shelter,
  • Repairs to existing Deer Park wall at Palace Gate,
  • Restoration of historic fishponds together with new landscaping and pond restorations,
  • Overhead wires placed underground

Further information relating to the application can also be found on the Hart website.
