Bell Cornwell ProjectsResidential Barn Conversion - Combefishacre Barn, Nr Ipplepen, DevonClient: Devon County Council Bell Cornwell successfully obtained planning permission and listed building consent for the conversion of this Grade II listed former cider barn to form a single dwelling following lengthy negotiations with Teignbridge Council and the Environment Agency. Despite a general presumption against residential barn conversions Bell Cornwell were able to demonstrate to the Council that the barn was capable of conversion without substantial reconstruction and that the conversion of the barn for commercial purposes would not be viable. Bell Cornwell were also able to demonstrate that the roads leading to the site were unsuitable for commercial traffic and that the conversion could be carried out without compromising the integrity of the listed structure. As a consequence Teignbridge Council agreed that the only viable option for the retention of this important listed barn was to convert the barn to a single dwelling.
