What do I need to know?
In October of 2015, the government announced changes to permitted development rights. Specifically, an announcement was made that the change of use from office (B1a use class) to residential (C3 use class) in accordance with permitted development rights in Class O of Part 3 of General Permitted Development Order regulations would become permanent.
This announcement formed part of the government’s push to increase housing supply across the country, allowing offices to be converted into dwellings without having to meet all the stringent requirements which go with securing a formal planning permission.
