We are excited to announce that we are expanding! In 2021 Bell Cornwell will be opening a new office in Cornwall, based in Victoria, near Bodmin. Our team of experienced Chartered Town Planners are keen to get going with this new venture in the new year, which will be led by Partner Iestyn John and Associate Dan Rogers.
We have practiced across Cornwall for many years and already represent a wide range of clients, including landowners, farmers and developers. Our new office will continue to serve our existing clients and projects whilst we will build on the success that we have achieved over the last few years.
The office is based just off the A30 in Victoria and is only a short drive from Cornwall Council’s headquarters in Bodmin. It is the perfect location to serve clients across the county and is a logical base to collaborate with the wider Bell Cornwell family and our Devon office in Exeter.
It is an incredibly interesting time to be involved in development in Cornwall due to the residents’ and Council’s positive outlook toward economic growth and housing delivery. There is also a large influx of investment into Cornwall and an evolving tourism offer, which also presents lots of development opportunity.
Cornwall is an incredibly diverse county with huge environmental sensitivity. This presents a wide range of planning issues from the need to regenerate former industrial areas and communities to accommodating and managing the demand for growth in the county’s most sensitive landscapes, such as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coast locations. We are fortunate to be undertaking work in the residential, commercial and tourism sectors in such locations, with more exciting projects in the pipeline.
We are also very familiar with the ever-evolving planning position in Cornwall. It is worth noting that the Council is currently consulting on their Climate Emergency Development Plan Document – a new policy document to sit alongside the Local Plan which seeks to plan for a ‘Carbon Neutral Cornwall’. The current consultation runs until 5th February 2021 and the document will have big implications for future development proposals and for those with property and land interests in the area.
