In 2019, Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole became unitary authority BCP. The new Council are in the early stages of preparation for their combined Local Plan and are consulting on the ‘issues and options’ until 7th March 2022. They have also issued a call for sites and now is the best point to get involved and promote your sites for allocation.
Until the BCP Local Plan is adopted, the housing supply is calculated separately for each area with all three below the mandatory 5-year level. In addition, the recent Housing Delivery Test indicates that all three Local Planning Authorities are failing to deliver enough housing and are now facing various consequences. The penalties add considerable pressure to produce new homes, giving applicants the advantage. Find out more about what the consequences mean here.
