Local Planning in the South

31st January 2018

Several of the authorities in the local area have reached important stages with progressing their local plans.

Hart District Council has recently published a Regulation 19 version of its Local Plan, to cover the period up to 2032. The Plan includes a reduced housing requirement from earlier versions of the Plan, based on the Government’s proposed new methodology for calculating housing need. Consultation on the Regulation 19 Plan will begin on 9 February and last for 6 weeks, ending on 26 March.

The Inspector’s report on the Examination of the Waverley Borough Local Plan Part 1 is likely to be published shortly. The Local Plan Part 1 includes strategic policies and sites, and covers the period to 2032. Modifications proposed by the Inspector include increases to housing numbers.

Guildford submitted its Local Plan (Strategy and Sites) for Examination in December 2017. Progress on this Local Plan has been slow, with the current Local Plan adopted in 2003. An Inspector has been appointed but as yet there isn’t a timetable for the Examination.

East Hampshire has also announced a review of its Local Plan, with a draft expected later in 2018.

The preferred options version of the comprehensive Local Pan for Bracknell Forest District will be published for public consultation on 8 February. The consultation will run for 6 weeks, ending on 26 March.  The Plan will cover the period to 2036.
