Tom joined Bell Cornwell in November 2018. His principle role involves strategic planning, including initial site appraisals and making representations for clients to promote their sites as part of the plan making process.
His position at Bell Cornwell is Tom’s first planning job in the private sector. He particularly enjoys the wide variety of work and engaging with all clients to help fulfil the full potential of their sites. Dealing with sites all over the country and having an understanding of local planning policies for the first time is another fascinating part of the job that he highly enjoys.
Tom gained his planning experience solely at local authorities. He started out as a Planning Technician at Oxford City Council in 2008 where he progressed from validating planning applications to dealing with permitted development enquiries and eventually to case officer for householder applications. He then moved onto strategic planning in 2014 when he joined Kingston upon Thames as a Policy Planner where he was responsible for a wide range of projects including helping prepare the London-wide SHLAA for the London Plan. His most significant role was being responsible for updating the borough’s housing trajectory and five-year housing land supply.Back to our team
