Bell Cornwell has worked very closely with Woking council to bring forward an alternative to an old extant planning approval site for a business park that had lain dormant for over 15 years in the Green Belt.
Providing additional heritage and landscape benefits as well as over 150 houses and employment uses, it is hoped that the site can deliver the housing, including on- site affordable housing and employment very soon.
Certain long-awaited transport improvements will also be funded within West Byfleet.
Both development control and development plan issues arose during the period of the discussions and the determination of applications. Local exhibitions were held and the local members were kept informed of progress at all times.
The negotiated scheme shows the possibilities that are available when a willing owner and a willing council engage together to make the best of a site and its potential and seek to overcome problems together.
It is hoped that Broadoaks will go on to be an award-winning scheme as so many of Octagon’s past developments have been.
