Project Overview

Bell Cornwell have helped secure planning permission for the construction of six beachside holiday apartments at Widemouth Bay near Bude. The scheme, which subsequently won the prestigious ‘Sustainable Project of the Year’ at Michelmores Property Awards in 2016, allowed the replacement of an outdated holiday complex with a set of upmarket holiday cottages. The original group of 1970s era buildings were of poor quality but in a very prominent beachside location, whereas the new lodge style apartments, which have been designed to the very highest standards of both architecture and sustainability, are more befitting such a stunning setting.

Being in such a sensitive location, adjacent to the Cornwall Heritage Coast and Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, meant that it was necessary to engage closely with local stakeholders and with Cornwall Council as part of the application process.
