Project Overview

The scheme is adjacent to a grade II* listed farmhouse and contains a number of listed barns, a milking parlour and sits alongside a complex of other, more modern buildings.

Bell Cornwell worked with the client and conservation practice, Jonathan Rhind Architects, to develop a scheme which would not only respect, but also enhance, the historic character of the complex and so make a positive contribution to the wider area.

Following in-depth consultation with East Devon’s planning and conservation officers and with Historic England, the scheme was finalised and agreed.

Planning in Basingstoke and Deane

The listed buildings will be converted to three dwellings, whilst the modern buildings and structure on the site will be replaced by two short terraces of new dwellings, much smaller in size and of a more sympathetic character

In considering the proposals, the Council’s Planning Committee agreed with us that the scheme would represent a high quality and respectful reuse of the site and gave unanimous approval.
