Project Overview

Acting on behalf of a private client, Bell Cornwell’s team in Devon has secured planning permission for a garden building in Uplyme, near Lyme Regis in East Devon.

The popularity of garden studios has increased over the past couple of years with homeowners spending more time at home and seeking additional space. In this instance, planning permission was required due to the site being located within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It was therefore necessary to demonstrate as part of the planning application submission that the development would:

  • Conserve and enhance the landscape character of the immediate area;
  • Not undermine landscape quality; and
  • Have no impact on neighbouring residential amenity.

With our understanding of the site’s sensitivities and the Council’s requirements, we were able to successfully demonstrate these components and permission was granted.

Thank you so much for all your comprehensive and speedy work to get this planning permission through. We are absolutely delighted and will now be able to really enjoy our property.
