Project Overview

Bell Cornwell has recently secured planning permission for a new self storage facility. We entered into discussions with Stevenage Borough Council to erect a new Lok’nStore facility which will provide 8,048m2 of storage space with three internal mezzanine levels, reception and plant room with thirteen car parking spaces.

The design incorporated a bold cantilevered glazed projection on the corner, with significant levels of glazing across the building. The crisp, modern appearance will be supported by use of the high-quality cladding in Lok’nStore’s company colours. The design by London practice Hale Architecture, presents a landmark building in this well established commercial location.

Through discussions with the council, it became evident that the development needed to be mixed use as they wanted to increase the level of employment on-site. In response, we secured eleven new offices within the building increasing the employment provision on site.

Despite delays associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, we secured permission through Stevenage’s first virtual planning committee.
