Clare Whitehead

Clare joined Bell Cornwell in 2025 and has a strong interest in sustainability and renewable energy. She is passionate about ensuring environmental benefits are considered from the earliest stages of development.

Expertise

Her work spans agricultural diversification, household and minor applications through to major residential schemes and EIA renewable projects. Clare particularly enjoys renewable energy schemes and has recent experience in delivering solar projects. She also has growing expertise in leisure and tourism-related developments, including hotel redevelopment, caravan sites and holiday parks.

Experience

Clare has over 13 years’ public sector experience, beginning her career at South Northants Council before becoming Principal Planning Officer at Cherwell District Council. She has also worked for a national housebuilder in the Midlands and, since relocating to Cornwall, in private consultancy across the South West and South East.

Education

Clare holds a BA (Hons) in Geography from the University of Birmingham and an MA in Spatial Planning from Birmingham City University, where she graduated with a commendation and the RTPI Best Student Award. She has been a Chartered Member of the RTPI since 2008.
