Project Overview

Bell Cornwell has secured an outline application for the erection of up to 105 dwellings including 32 affordable together with associated works.

The result follows successful allocation of the 3.29 hectare site in the Farnham Neighbourhood Plan and inclusion in the emerging Waverley Borough Local Plan Part 1: Strategic Policies and Sites.

Despite the site comprising an agricultural field, this application was initially fraught with complications which were all addressed during the course of the application alongside the complications that ascended from the European Court of Justice ruling People Over Wind and Sweetman 2018.

This judgement related to the Habitats Directive and affected the way the Council approached Habitats Regulations Assessments. After some discussion, an Appropriate Assessment was approved by Natural England, which concluded the proposal would not affect the integrity of the Thames Basin Heath Special Protection Area.
