ApplicationsProject Overview
Bell Cornwell co-ordinated the project acting as the Agent for the application, as well as providing planning support and advice. Although not listed, the existing Arts & Crafts style property was linked to C.H.B. Quennell Architect, who designed a number of houses in the Hampstead area during the 1900’s. The Council considered it to make a positive contribution to the character and appearance of the Conservation Area and therefore resisted its loss.
The Council’s opinion was at odds with the views of the Applicant’s Heritage advisor who felt that its contribution was neutral at best. The displayed CGI is the image of the second application submitted, following a refusal and subsequent dismissal at appeal of the first. This represented only minor differences to the previous scheme and again was refused by the Council. However, a second appeal, with the same Inspector reversed that refusal.
