Project Overview

Bell Cornwell have secured planning permission for the Trustees of the Brake Estate for the conversion of a country house to a hotel and wedding venue on the outskirts of Hartley Wintney in North Hampshire.

Working with Macallan Penfold Architects, sympathetic proposals to the Arts and Crafts style property were negotiated. Conversion of the former dairy buildings for ancillary hotel suites, and replacement of former agricultural building to provide 500 sqm of Class B1 floorspace were also secured.

The development sees a new chapter for the country house, making a positive contribution to the local and wider economy and seeing rural diversification of some of the estate land, whilst ensuring the rural character and appearance of the locality and countryside is preserved.
