Project Overview

Bell Cornwell secured permission for a mixed use development including the refurbishment of existing office buildings to provide new employment space, 189 dwellings and a safeguarded area for educational use.

The site is located in a mixed use area close to a town centre. The buildings had been vacant for some time. The Council wanted to see the history of the site, as a factory producing art materials, to be reflected in the design of the new development. There was also an aspiration for the employment space on the site to be targeted towards providing space for artists.

The proposed development successfully achieved the Council’s ambitions for a modern and high quality development with a unique character giving a sense of the history of the site.
